Let's Be Explorers

Round up to 14 billion
Age of the universe, all expansion
Eons and eons, with no stated objective
Really puts my 20s into perspective

How did it start, how will it end
100-billion-year lifecycle trend?
Really shouldn't dwell on the astronomical
Facing that fate seems highly improbable

We're floating through space
Expecting meaning from this place
When really, we just have to look out for one another

We're floating through space
Struggling through an endless race
So really, let's look out for one another

History, philosophy, psychologically a dream itinerary
Comfortably living in a made-up story, conveniently, which we're winning

Which seems a bit contrived to me, feels like a cosmic RNG
Everything seems too good to be true, like we're just glitter on oxygen glue

We're floating through space
Expecting meaning from this place
When really, we just have to look out for one another

We're floating through space
Struggling through an endless race
When really, we just have to look out for one another

Let's be explorers, let's write our own stories
Assign the values, fill in the meaning that works for everybody
A whole new paradigm, one person at a time
A global dream, a human team, creating meaning as mortal beings
